Self-employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS)

This scheme was originally launched at the end of March 2020 by the UK Government to offer support to the self-employed who have been adversely affected by COVID-19. It allows you to claim a taxable grant worth 80% of your average monthly trading profits, paid out in a single instalment, covering 3 months' worth of profits, and capped at £7,500 in total.

If you want to claim the first grant you must make your claim on or before 13 July 2020.

On 29 May 2020, the SEISS was extended with those eligible able to claim a second and final grant. From August 2020 you will be able to claim a second taxable grant worth 70% of your average monthly trading profits, paid out in a single instalment covering three months' worth of profits, and capped at £6,570 in total.

You do not need to have claimed the first grant to receive the second grant: for example, if you have only been adversely affected by COVID-19 in this later phase.
