Planning and Building Standards
As with many other services, South Ayrshire Council Planning and Building Standards Service has taken steps to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), and to protect employee and public health.
We have altered the way in which we are working, and as a consequence, staff may not be available to respond to your enquiry. They will respond to your email in due course. We are not able to accept paper applications, or paper submissions of additional information until further notice.
There may also be a delay in processing your Planning or Building Warrant Application or Enquiry during this period.
Applications can still be submitted via the ePlanning or eBuilding Standards Portals, and these will be received and processed when staff become available.
Please note that staff will not be available to carry out site inspections until further notice.
The Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020 (the Act) was passed by the Scottish Parliament on 1 April 2020 and received Royal Assent on 6 April 2020. Its purpose is to make provision to address the current coronavirus pandemic, by making temporary changes to various pieces of legislation. Section 8 and Schedule 7, paragraphs 8 to 10, of the Act alter temporarily the provisions of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997, as amended, in relation to the duration of planning permissions. Building Standards will no longer accept phone payments for applications. Please pay using credit/debit card via www.edevelopment.scot to make payments prior to submitting your application.

At a Special Meeting on 24 March, the Council decided to cancel the Regulatory Panel and Local Review Body meetings scheduled until the end of June 2020. Thereafter, this decision will be reviewed.
